E.S.E. (easy-serve-espresso) coffee pods are individually packaged capsules for lever espresso machines. E.S.E. pods are standardised - they always come with the same amount of coffee, ground and compressed into the pod. Everything is predetermined to produce a consistent beverage; each time you get roasted, ground coffee, about 7g per 44mm paper wrap. The flavour remain the same thanks to the special protective atmosphere in which E.S.E. pods are packed. When an E.S.E. is placed the extraction chamber with a high water pressure (9-15 bar), it creates an espresso of delicious flavour with the right amount of crema. E.S.E. technology thus guarantees quality without the need for knowledge of brewing techniques.
Coffee pods are made from roasted, ground coffee, precisely measured with approximately 7g. It is possible to use them in any ESE coffee maker whose slot for the coffee pod is the extraction chamber. Because the amount, degree of grinding and coffee compression are precisely defined by the standards, you will always get an espresso with delicious creama and amazing quality. The advantage is not only consistant quality but also simple and quick preparation.
Robusta is one of two types of coffee beans, typical with its bitter, earthy flavour. Compared to Arabica beans, it has more caffeine, so it will be appreciated by those who need extra help waking up in the morning. Combined with Arabica in espresso blends, a perfect harmony with delicious flavour and a pleasant bitterness can be reached. Robusta beans grow in the lowlands, and its cultivation does not require too much effort, as it is often collected by machine, so its price is lower than that of Arabica. Its biggest producers are Brazil and Vietnam.
Arabica is one of two types of coffee, known by its delicate and delicious flavour. It's found not only in 100% Arabica packages, but also in espresso blends in combination with Robusta. By blending different beans, complex flavours and aroma can be created. Arabica beans have a higher price because they are more demanding to cultivate. They grow at high altitudes and the coffee cherries require manual picking. Arabica is grown in Central America, East Africa and the Pacific region, more specifically in Java, Sumatra and New Guinea.
