It's really horrible. You can tell that this is actually the exact same game from 1996, when the games started to develop. The gameplay quality of older games from a gameplay perspective is terrible in most cases, so remasters typically try to smooth out the flaws of those games and offer possibly brand new content as a bonus. But those are two things Nintendo doesn't do. The only difference between the two games (1996's Super Mario RPG and the Super Mario RPG remaster) is better graphics and smoother music. That's all. Yes, even the music is exactly the same, it's just smoothed out, it's not the bite that retro games used to have. So all the bugs of the original game are carried over to the new version, which is also incredibly slow. I didn't finish the game because I was just bored with it. I don't recommend it.
Nice graphics and music
The controls are okay, but since the map and camera are rotated 45 degrees, it's not easy to move around in terms of accuracy.
Nintendo didn't do anything extra. It's exactly the same game.
Many slow animations that cannot be skipped.
The game drags very lazily, thanks to the amount of animations and the need to kill everything, otherwise you have no chance (killing things gains XP, which makes you stronger over time -> tl: dr. without it, you have no chance of survival)
Very linear, no side quests, nothing. You are locked in story mode all the time, you have to progress forward whether you want to or not.
