I was buying primarily for situations where I want to listen to confcall on the iPad so I don't have to pair my headphones. The cable is sufficient for that. The quality of the music resembles a double compressed mp3 at 128kbps, so it has no other purpose for me than to listen to the spoken word. The braided cable looks like it will last enough, it won't get destroyed in the chest, but I probably won't use it too often
