Speed, unfortunately bought by higher temperature (normally around 49°C memory, 5°C more controller).
Even "hotter" than the 980Pro.
Under load during long term gaming it reaches 60°C (due to the ofuku heatsink of the motherboard and disk cooler by the graphics card).
So keep that in mind when you're shopping.
After 167 hours of operation, 1.7 TB of data written and 70 GB of capacity, SMART reports 7% cell wear?
Failed Firmware or Garbage Collection?
The way Samsung has topped the PRO series with the 980 series, it has topped it with the 990 series by pushing the price up to the level of the original 2-Bit MLC.
Samsung's last drive, unless he does something about it. I'm not going to pay a premium price for a mediocre product with below average reliability (because you can't rely on something that shows 7% wear in a week of use).
The question of what to do about it.
