Štúdio Saber Interactive začalo so sériou plnou mazľavého blata a ťažkotonážnej techniky v roku 2014 na Kickstarteri, a hoci išlo o úspešný indie titul, vtedajší vydavateľ to pravdepodobne cítil inak a po rozporoch sa vývoj pokračovanie zastavil, aby v roku 2017 vyšla už pod záštitou Focus Home Interactive vylepšená verzia s názvom Spintires: MudRunner.
