Today, 3D printing has become very widely used - it's commonly in medicine, the automotive and aerospace industries, and also in the homes of hobbyists and artists. Just as an inkjet printer needs cartridges to print, 3D printers need printing filaments. They come in all kinds of colours, but the most important factor when choosing a printing filament is to consider the material from which it's made. Here, we will give you some tips to select the most suitable printing filament for your needs and how the various materials differ.

Printing Fillament Materials
PP - one of the most used plastics for 3D printing. Very often used by the textile and food industry because it can withstand higher temperatures and is resistant to many chemicals.
PLA - items printed are very high quality. On the other hand, the material is harder to process and the print is relatively fragile.
ABS - is more heat resistant than PLA. Its drawbacks include the release of harmful fumes during printing.
PET - a material that is resistant to chemicals and temperature changes. It connects well with glue.
ASA - a strong printing material that is suitable for prototypes or machine tool making. The resulting printed item is shiny.
HIPS - HIPS is great for printing large objects because it is less prone to warping. The material can also be surface-treated.
TPE - this is a flexible and rigid material at the same time. It is a combination of polymers with thermoplastic and rubber properties. Suitable for FMD 3D printers.
PVA - Designed for 3D printing using FFF and FDM technology. It is environmentally friendly and an ideal material for printing support structures that are water soluble.
Nylon - a very strong and durable material. Suitable for printing functional and technical parts. Nylon is very prone to moisture, so for the most successful printing the filaments have to be completely dry.
coperFill - fast, high-quality printing that doesn't warp. The final printed object will have a metallic finish, similar to copper.
Which Filament Diameter to Choose?
1.75mm - ideal for printing small and light objects where fine detail is important.
2.85mm - suitable for medium-sized items.
2.9mm - for medium or large objects.
3mm - suitable for large and complex items.
Printing Filaments for the Dark
The so-called "Glow in the Dark" printing filaments can be purchased on the market. This material lets you print an object that will light up in the dark! Unfortunately, the choice of colours is not very large. Green printing filaments are the most common variety.
